I never want to have dengue ever again.
The first 4 days I had the craziest, scariest fever...a swell way to welcome the new year :(
I had my blood tested on the 3rd day and my platelet count then was 140,000 (150,000 to 450,000 was normal)...on the 4th day it was 120,000 but it was okay at least it didn't drop drastically.
And then when Saturday came and I was feeling great (since my fever was also gone already), I was expecting my platelets to normalize also but surprise, surprise...platelet count down to 68,000 :( Was confined then at Makati Medical Center.
And so it goes....68,000....55,000....49,000....I couldn't believe it. It was dropping that much and I really thought I was gonna die.
Plus it was soooo hard to find people of my same blood type, which was AB+. My cousin, Issa and my bro's girlfriend were able to find donors but all of them were rejected due to various reasons (i.e. underweight, low white blood cells, just had their period). IT WAS FRUSTRATING :(
But in the end, I was blessed with a lot of people who cared and searched for blood for me (thanks Pao, Migui, Jakki and Lyanne...thank you also to Mick and JC). We we able to buy platelets from Philippine Children's Hospital and Chinese General Hospital. Marky (Jakobsen), Barney and my mom's officemate - Tita Eva, also came to my rescue and donated their blood for me. Although I never reached transfusion stage...at least we know those blood units will go to people who really need them badly :)
Thank you very much to all those who visited, called and texted and to all those who prayed for me. Your prayers saved my life :) Thank you most of all to my family, my Mama Bear and my Pao Pao for watching over me all the days I was sick. I love you guys so much ;)
